This story is true and can be passed on. A Family orchard in the San Joaquin Valley had one member who tried in one of their orchards only a plow-down cover crop. No sprays, no commercial fertilizers, only a thick cover crop. Worked in the spring, bringing organic matter, nitrogen, and a normal crop of nuts, which in return made a profit.
